Senior Research Assistant Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy

The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy at Duke University has an opening for a Senior Research Assistant. The work site for this position will be the Duke-Margolis office in Washington, DC, with an expectation of 10% travel.

The Senior Research Assistant in this role will support health systems transformation efforts at Duke-Margolis, focusing on state-based health reform and global health. The position will support the development, alignment, and coordination of work focused on accelerating the uptake of value-based care delivery and payment models and reducing health disparities in North Carolina and global settings. The individual in this role will report to a Research Director in Washington, DC, with a dotted-line reporting structure to a Policy Fellow in Durham, North Carolina.

Primary responsibilities include conducting background research, performing literature reviews, extensive writing for a range of deliverable types (e.g., policy briefs, white papers, blog posts), managing data collection strategies, and supporting Center events and convening (75%). This will include programmatic support for project activities through coordination, logistics management, and some administrative tasks (25%).

Education/Experience Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience. OR  Master’s degree in a relevant field (global health, health policy, public policy, public administration, public health, health economics, etc.). Knowledge/Skills Requirements:  Strong research and writing experience is required.  Knowledge/experience and interest in health policy and global health is preferred.  Policy research skills, including the ability to synthesize content from a broad range of sources, is required.  Training or experience in the fields of health policy, public policy, public health, data science, or global health is preferred.  Administrative, project coordination, and management experience is preferred.  Ability to interact with high level individuals and organizations is required.  Strong written communication skills and the ability to transform complicated information into easy to understand materials is required.  Ability to read Portuguese preferred.
