Position Description:

The Theoretical High-Energy Particle Physics Group at the Physics Department of the Technical University Munich (TUM) plans to make several appointments (salary scale TvL E13) at the postdoctoral level. The appointments are for two years starting in the fall of 2020. It may be extended by one year subject to funding.

We seek candidates with a strong track record in the following areas (associated with the research group leaders as given):

1) High-energy physics and effective field theory (M. Beneke)
2) Flavour physics (D. v. Dyk)
3) Particle Dark Matter (M. Beneke, J. Harz, A. Ibarra)
4) Neutrino Phenomenology (A. Ibarra)
5) Theory of the Early Universe (electroweak baryogenesis, leptogenesis & lepton number violation) (B. Garbrecht, J. Harz)
6) Dark matter and structure formation (M. Garny)

The Theoretical High-Energy Particle Physics Group at TUM currently consists of Prof. Beneke, Prof. Buras, Dr. van Dyk, Prof. Garbrecht, Dr. Garny, Dr. Harz, Prof. Ibarra, and Prof. Weiler, and a significant number of postdoctoral fellows, PhD and master students. The interests of the group over a wide range of topics in particle physics phenomenology and field theory (theoretical collider physics and LHC phenomenology, flavour and top quark physics, CP violation, strong interactions, extensions of the standard model, neutrinos), and in physics of the early Universe and cosmology (dark matter, baryo- and leptogenesis, inflation, CMB and structure formation). The vicinity of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study, the Max-Planck Institutes for Physics, and for Astrophysics, and in particular of the cluster of excellence ``ORIGINS'' and the Munich Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics (MIAPP), provides a stimulating environment for research.

Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and a brief description of their research interests before December 1, 2019. In addition, the applicant should arrange to have three letters of recommendation to be submitted through the Academic Jobs Online website.
