Position Description:    

The College of Arts & Sciences Writing Program at Boston University expects to hire multiple full-time Lecturers in Writing to begin in the fall of 2020. Responsibilities include teaching three theme-based first-year writing seminars per semester, with 17-18 students each, and participating in program service and professional-development activities. The initial term of appointment is two years, with the possibility of renewal.

The Writing Program is an independent instructional unit with nearly fifty full-time Lecturers. Our primary responsibility is to offer the two-semester sequence of theme-based writing seminars through which most BU undergraduates satisfy their writing requirements. We seek candidates who demonstrate experience in and a commitment to teaching writing to a diverse student population. BU’s Class of 2023 includes 24% international students, 20% underrepresented minority students, and 17% Pell-eligible students; 46% of our students receive some form of financial aid.
