Overview: Hart Leadership Programs 
The Hart Leadership Program is one of the oldest undergraduate leadership programs in the United States. We teach leadership not as a single set of skills, but as a broader capacity to learn in relationship with others and to adapt and improvise in order to find solutions to pressing collective action challenges.

 Adjunct Instructor Position 
“The Hart Leadership Program is looking for a replacement instructor for the spring semester of 2020 only to teach a capstone seminar entitled “Candidacy to Congress.” The candidate should have experience with and knowledge of congressional campaigns as well as leadership skills that would be of value and interest to students, both undergraduate and graduate, in the Sanford School of Public Policy. 

The Adjunct Instructor will: 
  • Teach a full-semester graduate level course
  • Prepare syllabus that includes course objectives, readings and assignments  
  • Grade assignments and provide written and verbal feedback on a timely basis 
  • Respond to student questions and issues related to the class; hold office hours
  • Distribute course evaluations to students at the end of the semester
  •  Provide final course grades within the University required timeframe
  • Use Duke University email address for course/Duke related correspondence
  • Follow Duke University parking regulations 
  • Abide by Duke professional standards, including Duke's Harassment Policies and the Consensual Relationship Policy
  • Protect the confidentiality, privacy, and security of student, staff, business, and other confidential, sensitive, electronic or proprietary information of Duke University from any source and in any form (spoken, paper, electronic, etc.) that is created, accessed, used, or disclosed by/to you
