*** this position has been closed, and no new applications is accepted. ***

The Landscape Architecture Section at The Ohio State University seeks to fill a clinical-track position. The search preference is for individuals at the assistant professor level, but all will be considered. We seek candidates whose design practice and teaching draw on the cultural, historical, and ecological dimensions of landscape architecture. Practice is considered expansively to include all forms of speculative design and investigations in materials, art, ecology, and theory. This position is a platform for an emerging practitioner to develop an innovative pedagogical approach. It offers a unique opportunity to test landscape architecture education in a dynamic academic environment with a venerable history.

The Assistant Professor of Practice will be fully engaged in the life of the Landscape Architecture section, teaching design studios and other courses— representation, technology, natural systems or history/theory—in coordination with their area of expertise, and supporting section initiatives in the form of practice-oriented service duties.  Applicants must hold a Master’s or equivalent degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field, such as Architecture or Urban Design.

At Ohio State, landscape architecture, architecture, and city and regional planning form the Knowlton School—an open learning environment that fosters exchange among these three disciplines. The school, housed within the College of Engineering, also takes advantage of Ohio State’s research resources, including the Wexner Center for the Arts, the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, the Advanced Center for Computing and Design, the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis, and the Kirwan Institute for Race and Ethnicity. The Ohio State University is the model 21st-century public, land grant, research, urban, community engaged institution. The area offers a wide range of affordable housing, many cultural and recreational opportunities, excellent schools, and a strong economy based on government as well as service, transportation and technology industries. Applicants are required to have a Master’s at the time of application. We are looking for candidates whose record demonstrates great promise of productivity and excellence in teaching. Preferred qualifications involve teaching experience, experience mentoring members of underrepresented groups and experience developing or working in interdisciplinary teams.
