Position Description:    

The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year position in Theater History and Theory at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall semester of 2020. Completion of a terminal degree (Ph.D. or D.F.A.) is expected prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The field of specialization is open, and versatile candidates with the ability to cover a wide variety of historical periods and geographical areas in their teaching are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching assignment of five courses per year includes a two-semester course sequence in theater history, required of all theater majors, as well as the opportunity to teach one or more advanced courses in American theater, global theater, musical theater, dramaturgy, and/or the candidate’s field of specialization. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
