The Department of Physics at the University of Alberta invites applications to fill a postdoctoral position in condensed matter theory, with a starting date in the Fall of 2021 or at an earlier date by mutual agreement. The successful applicant will work in collaboration with Prof. Igor Boettcher (https://sites.ualberta.ca/~iboettch/ ).

The position is a full-time 1-year appointment, renewable for up to 1 more year (maximum total of 2 years) subject to performance and mutual agreement. The salary for the position is $40,000 CAD per year plus supplemental health benefits. Research topics include topological semimetals, strongly correlated electrons, hyperbolic lattices, and quantum field theory in hyperbolic space. 

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in theoretical condensed matter physics obtained within the last five (5) years, a strong background in quantum many-body physics or quantum field theory, and previous research experience in theoretical condensed matter physics (analytical and/or computational).
