The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory invites experimental physicists working in cosmology and particle astrophysics to apply for a career-track position at the Associate Staff Scientist level. Exceptional candidates may be considered for a more senior position, commensurate with qualifications.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent), at least three years of postdoctoral experience and a demonstrated record of excellence in experimental research. The ideal candidate will be capable of making significant contributions to the design, development, construction, commissioning and operation of current or future SLAC Cosmic Frontier experiments. We also expect the successful candidate to conduct research with the data from these experiments. SLAC is committed to increasing the diversity of its staff and to an inclusive and respectful work environment and encourages applications from candidates who will diversify the workforce in astrophysics and cosmology.

The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory has a broad and vibrant scientific program in High Energy Physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology. SLAC leads the design, construction and operation of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s 3.2 Gigapixel LSST Camera and is the host for the Dark Energy Science Collaboration, and has extensive involvement in the next generation Cosmic Microwave Background project CMB-S4. Current research topics include cosmic survey science, cosmic microwave background, direct dark matter searches, proton collider physics and neutrino physics, as well as theoretical and computational astrophysics, cosmology and particle physics. SLAC and Stanford are partners in the Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology, which enables a broad program in astrophysics.

Interested candidates should submit their applications at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/17110. Please include a statement of research accomplishment and interests, CV, publication list, and at least three references. We also welcome applicants, as a component of their research statement, to discuss their experience with or commitment to engaging in mentoring, outreach, fostering inclusive environments, or activities that diversify the field.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but must be received by December 1, 2020 to ensure full consideration. Questions should be directed to the Chair of the Search Committee, Aaron Roodman (roodman@slac.stanford.edu).

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, operated by Stanford University, is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer.
