The Theoretical Astrophysics Group at the Niels Bohr International Academy and The Niels Bohr Institute invites expressions of interest for Postdoctoral Fellowships for a fixed period of three (2+1) years, with preferred starting date in Fall 2021. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to guide more junior fellows, teach courses at various levels, participate in outreach activities, and organize international meetings. To receive full consideration, please upload the material requested below before the deadline.

We seek highly motivated individuals who will develop joint research programs at the interface between theoretical and computational astrophysics. Current research areas encompass star and planet formation, protoplanetary disks and black hole accretion disks, and the physics of gravitational-wave sources. Candidates with overlapping interests and a solid background in astrophysical fluid dynamics and N-body dynamics are particularly encouraged to apply. Strong analytical skills, and/or experience with high-performance computing with MHD, radiative transfer, and/or particle-in-cell codes and N-body codes in conventional or GPU-accelerated hybrid architectures will be considered valuable assets. The group has exclusive access to some of the largest dedicated astrophysics computer resources in Scandinavia, including a general-purpose cluster.

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group at the Niels Bohr International Academy strives for a comprehensive approach to astrophysics and has strong ties to the Computational Astrophysics Group in the Astrophysics and Planetary Science Group at the Niels Bohr Institute. The Niels Bohr International Academy is hosted by the Niels Bohr Institute and functions as a primary center for fundamental research, including theoretical and computational astrophysics, cosmology, high-energy particle physics, condensed matter physics, and bio-physics. The Academy hosts a large number of international programs, including visitors, workshops, and PhD schools.

The University of Copenhagen wishes to reflect the diversity of society and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background. Postdoctoral Fellows at the University of Copenhagen receive a competitive salary (including pension) and funds for travel and computing. Generous parental leave, state-subsidized childcare, vacation, and full medical care are provided to employees in Denmark. A favorable tax scheme is generally granted to international researchers.
