Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Theoretical Particle Physics working on scattering amplitudes, multi-loop calculations and precision QCD at colliders, funded by the HighPHun ERC project.

The position is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 2 years, with the possibility of extension for 1 further year.

This project will develop mathematical methods for the calculation of scattering amplitudes in Quantum Field Theory and apply them to precision calculations of important observables at hadron colliders. The successful candidate will work on mathematical methods and formal aspects of multi-loop calculations in perturbative QFT and their application to precision calculations for Standard Model processes at particle colliders.

Reporting to Lorenzo Tancredi, the post holder is a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research work on scattering amplitudes, multi-loop calculations and precision QCD at colliders. Duties include managing own academic research and administrative activities, adapt existing and develop new research methodologies, present papers and represent the research group at external meetings and seminars.

Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or a related field and ideally should have a strong background in the theory of scattering amplitudes and/or in higher order calculations for particle colliders. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a capacity for independent research work and should have a publication record commensurate with career stage.

The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
