Applications are invited to a Research Fellow opening in Theoretical Biological Physics in the School of Physics of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. The Research Fellow position is up to five years with the possibility of promotion to be a faculty member. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Xin Wang wangxin36@mail.sysu.edu.cn.

Prof. Xin Wang is an Associate Professor of "100 Talents Program" in the School of Physics, Sun Yat-sen University. He got a PhD degree in physics from Peking University, Beijing, China and received postdoctoral training at Oxford and Harvard before joining Sun Yat-sen University. His previous work solves two classical problems within the fields of quantitative biology and theoretical ecology. His related studies published in journals such as Nature Communications, PNAS, eLife, iScience.

Sun Yat-sen University, located in Guangzhou in Southern China, is one of the mostly acclaimed top 10 universities in Mainland China. Requirements: A PhD degree in physics, mathematics, biophysics, EE, computer science or related subjects and genuine interest in working on biological physics research problems.  

Applicants with the competence to find problems on their own or though discussions with Prof. Xin Wang are highly encouraged, although this is not a prerequisite.

Eligibility: Candidates of all nationalities with age under 38 are welcome to apply. The working language is English. 

Salary: From 270,000 RMB to 440,000RMB per year before taxes (http://spe.sysu.edu.cn/node/2254). An indication of the cost of living in Guangzhou: Price of lunch/dinner on campus 10-15RMB; Monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment around campus 1500-3000RMB; Subway ticket: 3-6RMB
