Description:    

The Department of Biology at Mount Allison University invites applications for a one-year McCain Post-Doctoral (teaching) fellowship position commencing July 1, 2021. The successful candidate will have recently completed a Ph.D. in Biology or related field. The candidate will be required to teach three courses: Biology 2201 (Form and Function: Microorganisms), Biology 3111 (Environmental Microbiology) and another course in the candidate’s area of expertise. The candidate will also have an opportunity to participate in undergraduate student research supervision/mentorship.

The Biology department has an intensive research-based undergraduate honours program, and a graduate program at the M.Sc. level. Mount Allison is surrounded by rich coastal habitats, close to salt marshes, the Bay of Fundy, and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Facilities on campus include the Harold Crabtree Aqualab, a small mammal research facility, a digital microscopy facility with fluorescent and SEM imaging, a greenhouse, communal molecular biology equipment, communal cell culture and biosafety level 2 facilities. Department members benefit from strong research collaborations with government agencies and local stewardship groups.
