|The School of Politics and Global Studies invites applications for the position of Director (Job Order 10154). The School of Politics and Global Studies (SPAGS) is a major participant in the instructional and research activities of Arizona State University. The School of Politics and Global Studies was created in 2009 in recognition of the fact that contemporary global issues and problems do not align neatly with traditional academic boundaries. Instead, discovery, through teaching or research, is most creative when informed by multiple theoretical and methodological approaches. We are seeking a new Director who embraces our mission to create and disseminate knowledge contributing to society’s understanding of politics, governance, and institutions and the seemingly intractable problems they engage at local, national, and global levels.
The Director will lead the faculty in shaping and developing the School’s research, instructional, and service programs. The Director must be strongly committed to supporting continued improvement in the School’s research standing, attracting and retaining quality faculty, promoting growth in the undergraduate and graduate programs, developing interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives, advancing entrepreneurial opportunities, and enhancing relations within and outside the university community.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Political Science or related field, and have an outstanding established record of research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and university and professional service appropriate for a tenured appointment as full professor. Candidates must have demonstrated effective leadership, communication, and administrative skills. Desired qualifications include experience seeking and obtaining external funding for research projects and a commitment to the integrated mission and programs of politics and global studies. The position is open to all sub-fields and methodological approaches.
This position is available beginning July 1, 2013. Salary and start-up will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Applicants must submit a cover letter describing their qualifications and interest, current curriculum vitae, and the names and addresses of three references. Applications will be reviewed every two weeks from 10/07/12 until the search is closed. All application materials must be submitted electronically to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/1790. We will not accept any mailed applicant material; this is an online, paperless search.
