Chapman University’s
Department of Physical Therapy seeks applications for a non-tenure-track
Assistant/Associate Professor position in the Crean College of Health and
Behavioral Sciences. Preference will be given to candidates who can begin
immediately.

Continually accredited since 1928, the Department of Physical Therapy has a
rich tradition as the oldest, and one of the longest continually accredited
physical therapy programs in the United States. The program is located on the
Rinker Health Science campus, Irvine, CA. The campus is home to several
accredited graduate health science professional programs, including DPT,
Pharmacy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Physician Assistant. The
Rinker campus also houses the Institute for Interdisciplinary Brain and
Behavioral Sciences (The Brain Institute). The campus is distinguished by
innovative teaching, learning, and research laboratories and classrooms with
an emphasis on inter-professional education, evidence-based practice, and
health promotion and injury/disease prevention. The Rinker campus is
strategically located near numerous health service, medical device, and
biopharmaceutical companies.
Located on the Chapman University Rinker Health Sciences Campus in Irvine,

Qualifications
|
The successful candidate will
hold a DPT or terminal degree from an accredited program, clinical specialty
certification or other evidence of advanced clinical expertise, and licensed
or eligible for licensure in California. Preference given to candidates with
demonstrated excellence in teaching Anatomy-related content areas in a DPT
program, relevant clinical experience, experience in incorporating technology
into teaching and professional practice. Applicants must have experience with
performing human dissection and must be familiar with microanatomy/histology.
Candidates also must be able to apply functional anatomy in a manner that is
consistent with physical therapist education and practice. An ability to
carry out scholarly activity (as defined by CAPTE criteria), perform
professional/academic service, and maintain clinical competency are expected.
An interest in inter-professional education highly desirable. To be
considered at the Associate Professor level, the successful candidate will
have evidence of a track record of excellence in 1) teaching in a DPT
curriculum; 2) clinical practice; 3) service; and 4) scholarly activity as
defined by CAPTE criteria.

Responsibilities
|
Primary teaching
responsibilities include teaching in the Anatomy-related content areas of the
DPT program curriculum and in any other area(s) of expertise in the DPT
curriculum.
Responsibilities may also include assisting with practice management courses,
participating in clinical education courses, and supervising student research
groups. Participate in research according to CAPTE requirements. Participate
in inter-professional education and incorporate the use of technology into
teaching and physical therapy practice. Mentor physical therapy students and
participate in professional/academic service, including maintaining clinical
competency.
For those at the Associate Professor level, significant service, including
mentoring junior faculty, is expected.
