DevLab@Duke and the Political Science Department are hiring for a full-time Research Associate, Sr. The position will begin summer of 2021 and run for one year. This appointment is a nine-month contract that allows for grant-funded supplemental salary. The chief responsibilities of this position include: •Significant engagement with the Machine Learning for Peace project, including research on civic space, authoritarian influence abroad, and the role of media in politics. Required skills involve familiarity with natural language processing, forecasting, report preparation, and a capacity to engage at a high-level with policy audiences. •Significant oversight, endline design, and analysis for the Resiliency+ project. This is an ongoing randomized control trial that works with Cambodian NGOs to increase their capacity to thrive in a context of constricted civic space. •Organization and management of weekly DevLab meetings. •New project development, including writing funding proposals across a range of potential research activities bearing on governance and development economics. Competitive candidates will be able to play a PI or co-PI role on at least some of the projects.

Compensation is competitive and will correspond with qualifications and experience.
