|The Departments of Political Science and History of the University of Massachusetts Amherst invite applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship starting Fall 2013. Depending on qualifications, the scholar will be appointed to a tenure-track position in either History or Political Science with an adjunct appointment in the other department. Teaching and graduate-advising responsibilities will be divided between the two departments. The position requires expertise related to public policy in contemporary history; it is open to substantive policy area but we are particularly interested in candidates with substantive research agendas focused on environmental policy, immigration policy, or labor and family policy. Candidates will be judged on their scholarly research as well as teaching. A Ph.D. in history, political science, public policy or a closely related discipline is required at the time of the appointment.
