Postdoctoral Associate Homesite Insurance
POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR, Earth Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences. We are seeking to fill a postdoctoral position in a venture funded by Homesite Insurance. The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to the development of the capability of modeling, fluvial and pluvial flooding using rainfall from already developed synthetic tropical cyclone methodology, and use winds from this same methodology to drive hydrodynamic surge models to estimate coastal surge flooding. An important aspect of the proposed work is to develop the capability of simulating joint riverine and surge flooding. We prefer the candidate to have experience with hydrodynamic streamflow and surge modeling and high-performance parallel computing. We strongly encourage women and under-represented minorities to apply.
Job Requirements: Ph.D., in applied mathematics, atmospheric or oceanic sciences, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, or a related field by the date of hire. Strong physical, mathematical, and computational background. Expertise in hydraulic modeling. Experience with programming in at least one general purpose language and parallel computing. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
