Position Description:    

Position Overview: The Department of Psychology at Merrimack College invites applications for a Non-Tenure-Track, Lecturer, 10-month position for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program beginning fall 2021. An earned doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology or a closely related field is preferred.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the experience or ability to teach three or more courses among the following areas: Psychological Assessment, Evaluation and Treatment of Addictions, Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, Career and College Counseling, Research and Evaluation, and/or Trauma and Crisis Intervention. The CMHC courses are taught in the evening. As an NTT-Lecturer, you will be responsible for providing formal classroom instruction in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with primary duties being effective delivery of instructional material and course management (e.g., assessments, grading, etc.). A teaching load of 16-credit/contact hours per semester during the academic year is expected and would typically be 4 courses per semester. NTT-Lecturer may include courses taught during 6-week summer session within overall teaching load during the academic year. The candidate should have experience in clinical supervision and training and demonstrated commitment to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles in curriculum and training. It is preferred that the candidate is license eligible or holds licensure as a mental health counselor and/or a psychologist in the state of Massachusetts or in the New England region.

The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program meets the growing demand for mental health counseling in a number of different settings, including outpatient centers, hospitals, colleges, human resource departments, substance abuse treatment centers, non-profits, and government agencies. The CMHC program enables students to fulfill the education and degree requirements to apply for the designation of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
