INTRODUCTION The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Connecticut invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor in Residence level. The position is suitable for candidates with research and teaching experience who wish to pursue a career with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching with continued growth in this direction. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching both the laboratory and lecture sections of the Fundamentals of Microbiology course (MCB2610), but also be able to teach 1000 level courses which may include BIOL 1102, 1107 and/or 1108. Candidates with additional experience teaching Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, and/or Ecology, are particularly encouraged to apply. The teaching load will be 7 three credit courses, or its equivalent, per year. Other responsibilities include the advising of undergraduate students and developing success and retention strategies for biology courses. Successful candidates will be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their activities the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; contribute to the development of pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, 9-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2021. The position may be renewed annually based on performance, funding and needs of the Department and College. Salary is competitive based upon qualifications and experience. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the Waterbury Campus.
