Duke University Dance Program Position announcement for a Ballet Dance instructor

Position: part-time non-regular rank instructor for a course in African Dance

Start date: August 1 to December 31, 2021

Qualifications: An undergraduate education provider needs applicants for an opening for an in-person (in studio) Non-Regular Rank ballet instructor. Individual must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities: Perform course planning and instruction, facilitate and support student success in learning.

Requirements: Candidate must demonstrate a rigorous background professional or pre-professional classical ballet teaching and experience. Candidate must hold university level degree(s). Candidate must have experience teaching all levels of ballet and demonstrate a syllabus or record of long-term or semester long teaching and experience. Experience in choreography will be considered an asset. We will consider an individual's record working with students and colleagues with diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.

Responsibilities: The new hire will teach the following half-credit course:s:::: - all levels of Ballet. The new hire will develop a course syllabus, grade written papers, and use Duke's online class set-up. The new hire will meet with students to advise and guide them as needed.

The Duke University Dance Program currently offers an MFA, a BA, and a minor in Dance. The Dance Program is an independent unit within the University’s School of Arts and Sciences.

The department typically hires Non-regular rank faculty to teach studio, classroom-based practice courses for the subject areas/courses listed below, but this list is not all inclusive.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
