The lattice and effective field theory group in the Physics Department at Duke University has funding for a short term (6 – 8 months) postdoctoral associate position. We are looking for candidates interested in applying Monte Carlo methods in the worldline formulations to a range of quantum systems ranging from few body physics of interest in nuclear physics to many body physics that arise in the context of qubit regularization of quantum field theories. The candidates should have a PhD degree in physics at the time of the hire. Candidates with experience in Monte Carlo methods will be preferred. Interested applicants should apply using academic jobs online website (job identifying number). Ideally fully vaccinated applicants would relocate to Duke during their appointment. However, given the short-term nature of the position and complications that can arise due to COVID, we may be able to hire candidates residing in some states within the US so that they need not relocate and can work remotely. But this will have to be worked out on a case-by-case basis. The deadline for the application is June 1, 2021. The job can start as soon as the official hiring process can be completed.
