The Crown Center for Middle East Studies is offering two-year residential fellowships to outstanding scholars of the contemporary Middle East. The fellowship is open to all disciplines—particularly politics, economics, history, religion, sociology, or anthropology—for the 2022-2024 academic years. This consecutive, residential, two-year fellowship is targeted at early career scholars with PhD in hand and not yet tenured. The fellowship’s goal is to allow early career scholars the flexibility and means to advance a specific research project related to the contemporary Middle East.

Eligibility
The 2022-2024 Junior Research Fellowship is open to both recent PhDs (as a postdoctoral position) and assistant professors (not yet tenured) in Middle East-related fields. A PhD must be completed by September 1, 2022.

Terms
This fellowship is a two-year appointment beginning September 1, 2022, and ending August 31, 2024. The financial package includes an annual salary of $67,000, an annual research budget of $3,000, and up to $1,500 for relocation costs. Fringe benefits will be available during the two-year appointment period.

Fellows are required to be in residence at the Crown Center during the tenure of the fellowship and not hold any teaching or service responsibilities outside of the Center.
