The Department of Bioengineering at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of computational/theoretical bioengineering. The department invites Assistant Professor candidates with expertise in computational and/or theoretical modelling of biological systems. Particular areas of interest are computational modeling of biological systems, systems biology, cancer research and biomolecular/protein engineering. Candidates seeking to complement their computational program with the experimental approaches are also encouraged to apply. Outstanding candidates at higher rank will be considered.

Rice offers an outstanding environment for research at the interface of bioengineering, medicine, and biology with strong collaborations with the adjacent Texas Medical Center. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates will be expected to establish a strong research program supported by extramural funding.

Consistent with the National Research Council’s report, Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and work in research groups that “… [integrate] the knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking…” from engineering, mathematics, and computational, natural, social and behavioral sciences to solve societal problems using a convergent approach.

Qualifications All candidates must have a PhD degree in bioengineering or a related field, conferred by July 1, 2021 and at least one year of postdoctoral experience.
