Position Description:

*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The T-2 group (Nuclear and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology) in the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for one or more postdoctoral positions in High Energy Physics, to begin in the Fall of 2022. Candidates are expected to have obtained a PhD in Physics or closely related field by the beginning of the postdoctoral appointment (but no earlier than January 2017 per LANL policy). This position is for 2+1 years, with the third year contingent upon performance and funding.

The group has four full time staff members in High Energy Physics (Daniele Alves, Tanmoy Bhattacharya, Michael Graesser, and Rajan Gupta). We conduct research on a broad set of topics, including particle phenomenology, physics beyond the Standard Model, dark matter and astroparticle physics, lattice gauge theory, quantum field theory, quantum information science, cosmology, black hole, and gravitational wave physics. The group also actively engages with colleagues in nuclear physics, astrophysics, experimental high energy physics, and quantum information theory. Candidates in these areas, as well as in other interdisciplinary areas overlapping with high energy physics, are encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should submit their application (CV, research statement, and three letters of recommendation) to this site by December 6th, 2021, for full consideration.

Exceptionally well qualified candidates may be considered for the Director's Postdoctoral Fellowship and/or LANL's Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowships (Curie, Feynman, or Oppenheimer). The application deadline to be considered for LANL's postdoctoral fellowships is October 15th, 2021.

For eligibility and salary information, please see LANL Postdoc Eligibility and LANL Postdoctoral Salary Guidelines. Los Alamos is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Further inquiries should be sent to Michael Graesser at graesser@lanl.gov
