Postdoctoral Associate – Biostatistics

The post-doc will work with Dr. Hyslop, Professor, Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics in her cancer methods research. The primary funded project for this position focuses on metastatic breast cancer, and utilizes methods to integrate clinical data, survey data and molecular data with contextual area-level socio-economic data to explore underlying causes of racial disparities in this disease. In this project, we plan to extend some existing latent modeling approaches, with interest in exploring alternatives.

Another ongoing project in Dr. Hyslop's group involves the spatial exposures of food deserts and environmental exposures (air pollution and toxics exposures), the plan is to extend Bayesian methods from the literature to allow for two types of spatial/area-level exposures, one of which may diminish based on geo-spatial location within the space (food deserts), and others which will vary in the area around the person’s home location (environmental exposures).

Strong candidates will have interest and experience in spatial modeling, variable selection methods, latent variable modeling, and related approaches. There will be collaborative opportunities in addition to methodologic opportunities throughout the anticipated one-year or two-year post-doc opportunity, which is dependent upon continuation of funding and mutual interests. Interviews will begin shortly and continue until the position is filled. Earliest anticipated start date is January, 2022.
