Job Description
The Theoretical Particle Physics Group at Northeastern University offers two postdoctoral research associate positions for fall 2022. The group consists of Ning Bao, James Halverson, Pran Nath, Brent Nelson, Fabian Ruehle, and Tomasz Taylor, covering research topics in string theory, quantum information, machine learning, supersymmetry and supergravity, cosmology, and amplitudes. In addition, there will also be the opportunity to interact with members of the Mathematics Department, the CS Department, as well as the NSF AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI). Initial appointments are for two years, with the possibility to extend for another year.
The successful candidates are expected to perform high-level theoretical research. One will work primarily with Ning Bao and the other primarily with Fabian Ruehle.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD in theoretical physics or a related subject at the start of their contract. Candidates with experience in string theory are especially encouraged to apply. A background in machine learning and / or quantum information is desirable.
