The College of Health (COH) at Lehigh University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of associate or full professor to fill the Ellen and Vincent Forlenza ’75 Endowed Chair in Health Innovation and Technology. The successful applicant will be considered for tenure at initial appointment. The COH seeks to recruit a leader who has a proven track record of driving health innovation and technology, who has translated discovery into application and impact, and has expertise in applying innovation and technology to improve health outcomes for populations, communities, and individuals. This leader will bring to Lehigh a deep understanding of how the design, development, and application of health technologies can demonstrably improve health outcomes. The faculty member holding this endowed chair will lead the effort in the COH and more generally at Lehigh to advance research in health innovation and technology.

We welcome candidates from a variety of sectors including: academia, government, non-profit, or private, with research focused on a range of substantive and/or methodological areas related to health innovation and technology. Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in a relevant field (e.g., public health, public policy, medicine, epidemiology, global health, industrial and systems engineering, computer science, bioengineering, health policy, health services research, data science, environmental health).

At the core of the COH is a commitment to foster positive change in the communities where we live and work by promoting social justice and health equity. The mission of the COH, the newest of five colleges at Lehigh University, is to understand, preserve, and improve the health and well-being of domestic and global populations and communities with data-driven and community-focused research and education in three primary areas: population & community health, precision health, and health innovation & technology. The COH offers undergraduate majors in Population Health, as well as Community and Global Health, and graduate degrees including a Masters in Public Health, and an MS and PhD in Population Health. The distinctive experiences of undergraduates and graduate students in the COH include an innovative curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, and integrated career and professional development. The COH is host to three research institutes: The Institute for Indigenous Studies, the Institute for Health Policy and Politics, and the Children’s Environmental Precision Health Institute.

The COH will be located in the Health, Science, and Technology (HST) Building, Lehigh University’s newest, state-of-the-art research facility slated to open in January 2022. The innovative, flexible, and sustainably designed facility will advance Lehigh University’s research innovation in STEM. The primary goals followed by the architects as they designed the building were to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration; develop functional neighborhoods that create a model of intensity and productivity; and engage the campus community by bringing the public into the building.
