Position Overview & Responsibilities
This leadership position will coordinate and lead online partnership programs within the
Winston School of Education and Social Policy, including the current online teacher education
M.Ed., CAGS in Educational Leadership, Catholic School and Independent School Leadership
certificates, as well as future online offerings. This position will report to the chair of the
education department, and will be a member of the education department faculty. The position
will be a twelve month NTT position, with a 4/4 teaching load equivalent, with release time for
the administration of these programs. The position will include teaching in area of
specialization as well as student advising.
Responsibilities of this position include:
● Developing, monitoring and updating a 24-month strategic plan for these academic
programs, to include sustaining of existing programs, as well as development of new
initiatives. This strategic plan shall include a review and analysis of all relevant curriculum of
the academic program to ensure that the program offers a quality curriculum as determined
by the College and any relevant external regional or national accreditation standards or
frameworks. The strategic plan shall provide a framework for the Chair/Assistant Dean to
create a yearly schedule of courses and support the department’s and school’s overall
strategic planning around enrollment management, budgeting, and personnel (faculty and
staff) hiring needs.
● Developing and updating all relevant academic materials within the academic program. This
includes course descriptions, catalog copy, advising sheets, fact sheets, program charts, and
any additional informational materials that pertain to the program. Such materials shall
provide a basis for the Chair/Assistant Dean and the Dean to develop informational and
marketing material for web- and print-based communication.
● Implementing a yearly review of the academic program, using Merrimack College’s Annual
Review Template, as well as any additional relevant external assessment framework that
may be linked to licensure standards or national frameworks. This review shall take the
form of an annual report that is to be submitted to the Chair, at the end of the academic
year (prior to June 30).
● Ensuring the development and implementation of assessment of programs and courses and
student learning outcomes; and ensuring that assessment information is analyzed and used
to improve programs and courses.
● Providing timely and accurate advising to potential and current students about the
academic program. This includes attendance at relevant open houses, informational
sessions, admissions events, regular office hours, and any additional internal or external
events that significantly relate to the academic program.
● Consulting with all faculty teaching in the respective program in order to coordinate courses
to ensure consistency of course content with stated program goals and objectives, and,
where applicable, coverage of relevant national and/or disciplinary standards and
competencies.
● Collaborating regularly with the Field Placement Director to identify appropriate field
placement sites (e.g., practica and pre-practica), cultivate relationships with new partners,
and to mutually address problems related to students’ field sites in a manner consistent
with the academic and pre-professional preparation goals of the academic program.
● Regularly reviewing, in collaboration with the appropriate office, all academic program
application materials and making modifications, as needed and relevant, to ensure
appropriateness of the application for identifying suitable candidates for the program;
participating, if applicable, in the review of graduate Fellowship applications.
● Identifying, making recommendations about, and participating, as needed, in the
recruitment of faculty (adjunct, term, and/or tenure-track).
● Collaborating with graduate admissions office staff (as appropriate to the particular
program) to establish admissions criteria for the program; consulting with admissions staff
as needed regarding any questions related to individuals’ candidacy for admission.
● Working collaboratively, as needed, with relevant individuals within the Winston School of
Education and across the College to support student life issues (undergraduate and/or
graduate) and address any concerns that may arise relevant to the academic program.
● Supervising the operational, non-personnel budget, as funding permits and as allocated by
the Dean. This includes, as relevant, program materials, library acquisitions, student clubs,
office supplies, and special events.
● Liaison with external partners and organizations for the monitoring and marketing of
programs as well as development of new programs.
Requirements:
Extensive experience (3+ years) with online program development and management
Experience in educational leadership programming
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in relevant area required
Teaching and advising experience, including online teaching
K-12 leadership/teaching/counseling experience
Familiarity with Massachusetts K-12 licensure requirements
Expertise in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programming

Unless otherwise stated above, this is an on-campus position. This is not a remote or hybrid position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
