Description
The Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates doing innovative work in biochemistry or molecular biology are encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome applications from candidates exploring the molecular mechanisms of infectious disease.

Comprising faculty in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine, the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology is an active, collaborative community of scholars with broad research interests dedicated to both scientific discovery and education at undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. Beyond the Department there are opportunities for collaboration with other research programs including the Stony Brook Center for Infectious Disease, the Stony Brook Cancer Center, the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, and the Institute for Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. In addition, the University maintains professionally staffed core facilities to support research including proteomics, next generation sequencing and microscopy.


Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a closely related field, as well as at least two years of postdoctoral experience . Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in innovative research and have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Special Notes:

Tenure/Non-Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
