Position Description:

*** this position has been closed. ***

We welcome applications for a postdoctoral or/and a doctoral position in the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the ‘Johannes Gutenberg’ University of Mainz to work in the ‘NEUQUAM’ research group led by Jun. Prof. Dr. J. Marino (https://sites.google.com/view/nequantumuniv)

The appointed candidate will be a highly-motivated, qualified and independent researcher, keen to join our research team.

Research at ‘NEUQUAM’ targets the quest for universality in driven-dissipative many-body systems, with focus on dissipation engineering, quantum many body optics and many-particle aspects of quantum information science. Our team is broad in methods, ranging from numerical techniques (TWA, DMRG) to field theory approaches in non-equilibrium condensed matter (Keldysh). We collaborate with trapped ions and cavity QED experimental teams in Mainz and within our research network.

‘NEUQUAM’ works in synergy with several international collaborators both in Europe (ETH, ICTP, Uni-Geneva) and in the USA (Caltech, Harvard, JILA, KITP, TAMU, UCLA, UTDallas, Yale). Furthermore, our group is linked to several research alliances pivoting around JGU: ‘QuCoLiMa’ (for light-matter interfaces), ‘Elasto-Q-Mat’ (for electron-phonon correlations), ‘TopDyn’ (for topology and dynamics), and SPICE (for interdisciplinary spin physics).

Review of the applications will start immediately. Job interviews will be held every 2-3 weeks until the positions are filled with flexible starting date.

Interested applicants should send the following application material:

1) curriculum vitae (including publication list for postdoctoral candidates); 2) the names and e-mail contacts of senior scholars for letters of recommendation; 3) transcript of records of their bachelor and master studies (for PhD candidates);

to the e-mail address dissipativequantummanybodyjgu@gmail.com

Disabled persons with suitable qualifications will be considered preferentially.
