The Experimental Astroparticle and Neutrino Physics Group at the Instituto de Fı́sica Corpuscular IFIC - CSIC/University of Valencia, Spain invites applications for two PhD positions starting in the second half of 2022, to join the ANTARES and KM3NeT Collaborations on searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model.

Candidates should indicate their preference for one of these research topics:

• Indirect search for dark matter using neutrinos, including the possibility of working side by side with other communities to multi-messenger combined searches.

• Study of fundamental neutrino properties using atmospheric neutrinos, targeting new physics phenomena such as non-standard oscillations, in the general context of determining mass ordering and oscillations parameters.

The successful candidate must hold a Masters’ degree in Physics, preferably with specialization in the astro-, particle or high-energy physics areas. Prior knowledge of analysis tools such as ROOT, C++ and Python will be appreciated, as well as a good command of English communication skills. The work will consist of analysis and interpretation of data collected with the KM3NeT neutrino telescope. Successful candidates will develop their analysis framework, participate in academic activities and present novel results to the collaboration and outside. They will also contribute to the data taking and help in the construction and calibration of both the ORCA and ARCA KM3NeT detectors.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their application, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae and copies of their university degrees. They should also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent on their behalf. Applications should be sent preferably before 28 February 2022; later applications will be considered until the positions are filled. Selected candidates are expected to join the group at earliest by mid 2022.

IFIC is an equal opportunity employer. IFIC is committed to increasing the diversity of its personnel and particularly welcomes applications from women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Its parent organizations (UV and CSIC) have endorsed the European Charter for Researchers and the European Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and follow the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) for its proper implementation and follow-up. Both institutions have obtained the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission.
