Duke University’s Department of Statistical Science has a Postdoctoral Associate position to work with Professor Amy Herring in developing novel statistical methods for high-dimensional, complex, and/or structured data. We seek a highly motivated researcher who will work on multiple projects in statistical science and collaborative health science. A particular focus is on inferring latent structure (e.g., clusters) in data, while characterizing uncertainty. Motivating applications include environmental epidemiology, toxicology, infectious disease subtyping, and methods for compositional data. Research will ideally lead not only to publications in leading statistical journals but also will involve development of practical algorithms and corresponding code that can be used by scientists in other fields. The postdoc will gain significant experience in collaboration with scientists in global health, medicine, and the Nicholas School for the Environment. Ideal candidates will hold a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field with rigorous technical training and background combined with a growing publication record and proven abilities in applied-driven methods development. Interest and experience in complex Bayesian modeling and in successful collaboration with researchers outside statistics is strongly desired.

Teaching opportunities of one course per semester may be available to interested and qualified candidates. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will be open until filled. Please submit a CV, letter of interest, link to a brief (< 3 minute) video explaining your research & career interests, and names of 3 or more references to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/20716.
