The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP, http://insti.physics.sunysb.edu/itp/www/ ) at Stony Brook University anticipates filling one or more Research Assistant Professor appointments in theoretical physics, with anticipated appointment date of September 1, 2022. These are three-year non-tenure track appointments offering an annual salary of $81,000.

Research fields currently represented at the YITP include, but are not limited to, quantum field theory, string theory, particle theory, cosmology, condensed matter, statistical mechanics, and quantum information theory. The Institute has a tradition of collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and of Mathematics and the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics at Stony Brook and with Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or closely related field, with an established record of outstanding independent research.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Assistant Professor will conduct research in the field of the researcher’s choice in theoretical physics. The researcher may collaborate with senior and junior members of the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, as well as members of other research institutes, and may travel for research purposes.
