Job Responsibilities:

The Lien Centre for Palliative Care (“LCPC”) in Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore, aims to be the premier palliative care research and educational Centre in the region. With generous support from the Lien Foundation, strategic collaborations with the National Cancer Centre Singapore and the broader Singhealth Institutes, LCPC is poised for significant growth in the coming years.
To meet the goals of the Centre, LCPC is recruiting tenure and research track faculty members at all levels in the area of health-related Social Science (Health Psychology, Social Work, etc.). LCPC is seeking scholars whose focus is in implementation science with specific interests in decision aids, health communication, and/or related areas of research applied to those with life-limiting illnesses.
Opportunities exist to work with a multidisciplinary faculty within the Duke-NUS Medical School, for testing interventions with the Singhealth Academic Medical Centre, and for expanding collaborations with researchers in Singapore, with collaborators at Duke University, USA and with other palliative care institutes worldwide. Clinician scientists will be eligible to apply for a joint appointment within the Department of Palliative Medicine or other relevant departments within the Medical Centre and may split their time between research and clinical duties. Teaching opportunities may also be available, if interested.
 
Job Description
  • Generate an independent research agenda via successful national and international grants.
  • Collaborate on existing research projects with LCPC faculty.
  • Help to forge collaborations with relevant departments and researchers within Singhealth and the broader medical decision making community in Singapore.
  • Provide guidance to more junior researchers.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
 
Job Requirements:
  • PhD or MD in a relevant area of health-related Social Science.
  • Relevant research experience and plans to pursue external research grants. Candidates with lesser years of experience may be considered for a Research Fellow position.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to form and lead teams.
  • Proven record of writing academic papers.
  • Good time-management and project management skill.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with a wide range of people, including clinicians and other health care professionals.
