Associate in Research

Duke University Injury Biomechanics Laboratory

The Injury Biomechanics Laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking a candidate to serve as a full time Associate in Research for a one year appointment. Applicants with a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering or mechanical engineering are preferred, although all applicants with a science background will be considered. The researcher will investigate Behind Armor Blunt Trauma (BABT) and assist with the development of biomedically-based injury criteria.

General responsibilities will include assisting lab personnel with development, set up, execution, and analysis of BABT tests and experiments.

The requirements for this position include:

1) An interest in injury biomechanics.

2) Knowledge of data acquisition and analysis techniques.

3) Strong troubleshooting skills and an innovative mindset capable of designing new test procedures and apparatuses.

4) A willingness to work with animals and biological tissues.
