The Macalester College Department of Geography invites applications for a one-year non-tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin fall semester of 2022. The teaching load is five courses per academic year. The successful candidate will teach courses within their areas of expertise that will expand the department’s existing curriculum into new and exciting subfields. We especially encourage applicants whose work engages in Black, Latinx, feminist, queer, Indigenous, or post-colonial geographies to apply. Candidates must also be able to teach the introductory course GEOG 111: Human Geography of Global Issues. We are especially interested in candidates who would further diversify our faculty and curriculum. Salary and benefits are competitive. The position is open to those who have been awarded a PhD in Geography (or related field) by the time of appointment.
