Position Description: The Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) group at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), University of Maryland, is currently seeking talented and motivated postdoctoral candidates for our collaborative research team that is grounded in the physics of materials synthesis and device fabrication. Our interdisciplinary team is working to advance basic and applied research goals related to quantum information science and quantum materials.

Candidates should have one or more of the following areas of expertise: • Materials synthesis (MBE preferred) and characterization of semiconductor, superconductor, or topological materials • Prototype device or elementary circuit design, simulation, & test • Cleanroom device fabrication • Cryogenic characterization

Minimum Qualifications: • Ph.D. in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or relevant discipline. • Experience with scientific computing, such as C++, Python, or MATLAB. • Ability to apply expertise across a wide variety of technical problems. • Demonstrated experience in conducting original scientific research through peer reviewed publications. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Post-doctoral research scientists will have full access to well-equipped laboratories with multiple molecular beam epitaxy systems, a state-of-the-art clean room for device fabrication, advanced lithographic and microscopy tools, and extensive materials characterization capabilities including cryogenic testing into the millikelvin regime.
