The Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of New Mexico invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow working in theoretical cosmology and particle astrophysics, with a start date of September 1, 2022. The position will initially be for one year, with a possible extension for two additional years contingent upon satisfactory performance. The UNM Department of Physics and Astronomy is located in a new state-of-the-art research facility in Albuquerque, NM.

Job Description The candidate is expected to have a solid theory background in cosmology and particle physics, while skilled in numerical analyses. Good knowledge of astronomy is an asset. The chosen candidate will work in close collaboration with Prof. Cyr-Racine at the interface of particle physics, cosmology, and astrophysics. The cosmology group at UNM also includes Professors Rouzbeh Allahverdi and Darcy Barron. Applicants interested in the impact of new physics on cosmological and astrophysical observables are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in departmental research activities, including organizing and attending seminars and working closely with graduate students. The applicant must obtain a PhD degree in physics, astronomy, or a related field before the date of hire. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include benefits and an allocation for relocation expenses. Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field by date of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

• In depth knowledge of particle physics and cosmology • Fluent in Python and familiarity with either C or Fortran • Experience in supervising students • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
