The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year position in Dance Practice at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall semester of 2022. Completion of the MFA or equivalent professional experience is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The field of specialization is open, and candidates with expertise in indigenous, Asian, Latin American and/or Afro-diasporic dance forms are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching assignment of five courses per year will include a beginning studio course in contemporary dance, an advanced contemporary dance course (culminating in the spring dance concert), and one or more additional studio course(s) in the candidate’s field of specialization. The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
