The Department of Theater at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year position in Design at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the fall semester of 2022. Completion of the MFA or equivalent professional experience is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire. The field of specialization is open, and versatile candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and/or projection design. The successful candidate will be engaged in multiple design disciplines, and take an innovative approach to design practice. The teaching assignment of five courses per year (or the equivalent) will include at least one introductory design course in the candidate’s field(s) of specialization, as well as the design of two departmental productions per year. Candidates who are interested in developing an interdisciplinary, cross-listed course in multimedia, installation, or sustainable design are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate may also be asked to contribute to all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
