The Department of Romance Studies at Boston University seeks a full-time Lecturer in Italian, beginning July 1, 2022. Responsibilities include teaching and curricular development from beginning to advanced language and culture, including the ability to teach and coordinate multi-section language courses involving one or more of the following topics: translation, contemporary literature, current politics, migrant literature, Italian-American culture, fashion and food industries in Italy, Fascism and/or and the Holocaust in Italy, film and media. Minimum requirements include an MA in Italian, Second Language Acquisition, or a relevant field; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching for at least three years; native or near-native proficiency in Italian and English; and knowledge of current issues and methods in language teaching. Ability to teach beginning courses in French or Spanish when needed would be a plus. The successful candidate will also demonstrate ability to integrate language and culture and to contribute to curriculum development in a dynamic and collaborative language program.
