Position Description
The Department of Asian & Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University invites applications for a post-doctoral position in modern Chinese Cultural Studies. This position is a one-year appointment that begins August 1, 2022. The appointee is expected to (a) teach three courses a year, (b) conduct research contributing to a monograph and/or a series of peer-reviewed articles and (c) participate in scholarly events and activities in the department. Applicants specializing in modern/contemporary China, Greater China, and the global Chinese diaspora are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in literature, film, cultural studies, and/or gender and sexuality studies. The Fellow will be expected to be in residence, to conduct research in Duke's library and archival collections, and to work on their publication portfolio, either a series of articles or a book manuscript. The successful candidate will have completed their Ph.D. between January 1, 2020 and August 1, 2022, and will have a solid record or research and teaching in the field.
