Fermilab's Applied Physics and Superconducting Technology Division is seeking an Associate Scientist to conduct research in superconducting radio frequency (SRF) physics and technology R&D and support SRF projects related to the overall mission of the Laboratory. Research may be within any scientific or technology development activity of the Applied Physics and Superconducting Technology Division. Appointees may have specific line, organizational, or management responsibilities. The position is for a period of up to three (3) years, with possible extension for another 3 years. 

You Will: 
• Oversee and carry out segments of project design, scheduling, and budgeting for the area of SRF science and technology. Direct the work of other employees as assigned. 
• Design and develop SRF accelerator technology as assigned. 
• Perform measurements of practical SRF superconductors using advanced analytical instruments and methods, develop new methods, analyze data, and apply results to progress assigned project; give seminar and conference presentations related to area of specialty or assignment. Publish papers related to scientific research. • Serve on Laboratory and professional committees as appropriate. May lecture and teach in a related field of science. • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. 
• Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

We Are Looking For: 
• Applicants with a PhD in Physics or related engineering field, have recently completed their PhD, and have completed at least one term as a Research Associate (or an equivalent level of academic training/experience). 
• Demonstrated experience with advanced analytical instruments for materials and surface studies of superconductors (e.g., TOF-SIMS, TEM, SEM, PPMS, …) is desired. 
• Familiarity with radio frequency superconductivity for particle accelerators is desired. 
• Demonstrated potential to make contributions to the Laboratory that will subsequently qualify them for appointment as a Scientist. 
• Ability to contribute effectively within a diverse workforce and uphold Fermilab’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
