|The Journalism Program, Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, seeks a visionary chair as it returns to departmental status in a new state-of-the-art building opening in Fall 2014. The new chair will provide strong, collaborative leadership as Journalism refines its multiplatform curriculum to prepare undergraduates as writers, reporters and critical thinkers in a fast-changing field. Successful candidates will have the professional and academic experience to warrant appointment to Professor with tenure, will continue to publish academically and/or professionally and will teach a course each semester. The program is especially interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in a multicultural educational environment.
Applicants must have a Masterï¿½s degree in Journalism or a closely related field, though a Ph.D. is preferred, and significant professional experience. The position begins Sept. 1, 2013, and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
