Position Description:

Opportunity for a PhD student in

Quantum Key Distribution and Quantum Networks

Quantum communication networks will be essential for novel quantum technologies like quantum sensing, quantum computing and quantum simulation. For this reason, the EU will implement a Quantum Communication Infrastructure. All member states will demonstrate the implementation of quantum infrastructure and its use for quantum key distribution (QKD). For Slovenia, this will be realized in the project

Slovenian Quantum Communication Infrastructure Demonstration (SiQUID)

The topics for the research to be performed are:

implement QKD demonstrators
collaborate with other research institutes and industrial partners to implement rugged QKD setups for future applications
QKD over long distances and towards neighboring countries

For this project, R. Kaltenbaek will employ one PhD student with an expected starting date of October 1st, 2022.
