The Quantum Thermodynamics & Quantum Transport (QT2) group of Professor Landi, in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Rochester, seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on the theory of quantum thermodynamics, open quantum systems and quantum information. We are looking for a creative, self-motivated researcher to pursue exciting problems related to the role of coherence and fluctuations in thermodynamic processes.

The appointment is to start after January 1, 2023 (start date flexible) and is initially for 2 years with the possibility of extending for another year subject to satisfactory performance. The candidate should hold a PhD in Physics or a closely related subject and ideally should have research experience in some or all of the following areas:

- Open quantum systems - Quantum information - Quantum thermodynamics & quantum transport - Numerical simulations of quantum systems in either Mathematica or Python

The work will require a mix of analytical and computational work and will involve a close dialogue between theory and experiment. We are looking for candidates with good communication and teamwork skills, and who will also be directly involved in mentoring and collaborating with PhD students working on similar topics. We aim to provide a supportive environment that will prioritize the candidate’s career development as well as their research. Our goal is to build a diverse team of researchers in order to find creative solutions to some of the most challenging problems in quantum physics.

To apply, please get in touch directly with Professor Gabriel T. Landi . Applicants should submit their CV, a brief (1 page max) statement of research interests and the contact details of at least two references. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
