| Applications are invited for two post-doctoral researcher positions at the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics (MITP) at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. The post-doctoral positions are available starting in October 2023. The positions are for two years. Applicants should have obtained a Ph.D. within the last five years and have shown evidence of accomplishment and independence in their research. Members of the high energy theory group at the MITP include Pallab Basu, Robert de Mello Koch, Kevin Goldstein, Vishnu Jejjala, Anosh Joseph, João Rodrigues, and Sam van Leuven. We also have around six post-docs in high energy theory next year. Members of the MITP work on topics in string theory, quantum field theory, theoretical cosmology, condensed matter physics, mathematical physics, and machine learning. Theorists who overlap with any of these areas are encouraged to apply. The appointment is subject to approval by the appropriate funding agencies. We can apply for additional funding to extend the term of the fellowship, but this is not guaranteed. A post-doc can expect a reasonable stipend for research related travel in addition to airfare to Johannesburg on starting. |
