A position as Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Ultrafast Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics (AMO) and Attosecond Science is available at University of Central Florida (UCF) in the group of Dr. Li Fang. The candidate selected will participate in studies using table-top attosecond light sources and e/ion spectroscopy to investigate electron and ion dynamics during and post photoabsorption of atomic and molecular systems and quantum control of the charge and energy dynamics.

Duties and Responsibilities: The researcher will be primarily responsible for commissioning a REMI system and assisting setting up an attosecond pump-probe beamline for experiments using the XUV/x-ray photon sources in on-campus laboratories. Other primary responsibilities include carrying out scientific experiments using the in-house instruments and apparatus and perform data analysis. The research project concerns the interaction of atomic and molecular systems with ultrashort laser pulses in the long (IR) and short (XUV/xays)-wavelength range. Additional duties include assisting experiments carried out at off-campus facilities. The researcher is expected to publish papers in the refereed literature, and to attend professional meetings to present results of this research.

Minimum qualifications: a PhD in physics or related field. Candidates with a background in experimental physics with an emphasis on strong field or attosecond physics and experience in electron/ion spectroscopy, high-power ultrafast lasers will have first consideration. Experience with COLTRIMS and REMI spectrometer is strongly preferred. A successful candidate may start in the position as early as December 2022.

Special instructions to applicants. To apply, the candidates must provide the following documentation: 1. A cover letter (pdf) explaining why they believe they meet the qualifications required and preferred for the position, what are their research interests, how they matured them, and why they think the position on offer is consistent with their academic trajectory. 2. Curriculum vitae (pdf), including a complete list of their publications and references for letter of recommendation. 3. Copies of two representative publications. 4. the candidates must arrange for three letters of reference, to be uploaded.

The University of Central Florida is rapidly becoming a major center for the experimental and theoretical study of ultrafast electron dynamics in atoms, molecules and solids, and a point of reference on the East coast of the United States for the international attosecond community. The University of Central Florida is a large public research university, with a growing Physics Department and a College of Optics & Photonics (CREOL) with few equals in the world. In the latest usnews.com survey, UCF graduate program in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics has been ranked 12th in the U.S. UCF main campus is located on the outskirt of Orlando, a city of everlasting Summer.
