The Department of Physics in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Postdoctoral Research Scholar position with an anticipated start date in Spring 2023. This is a fixed-term, fiscal year (twelve-month) appointment with no tenure implications. Renewal of this position is based upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. The position is for one year and can be extended for an additional 2 years. Candidates must be within four years from receipt of their doctoral degree. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

The Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics Lab led by Prof. Antia Botana and Prof. Onur Erten is seeking to hire a postdoctoral research scholar to work in the field of 2D van der Waals magnets. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and strong interests in strongly correlated systems, first-principles calculations and micromagnetic simulations of chiral magnetic systems.

Minimum qualifications: • A Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in physics by the time of the appointment. • Evidence of a strong background in density functional theory and micromagnetic simulations. • Demonstrated experience or future commitment to work with diverse student, faculty and staff populations

Desired qualifications: • Background in two-dimensional materials and chiral magnetism.
