Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, or can be based remotely.

 The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Senior Extension/Extension Associate in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division.

 Our Team:

The Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) conducts research and provides continuing education and technical assistance on many aspects of disability in the workplace. Researchers and practitioners at YTI have helped companies, labor organizations, government agencies, schools, and communities throughout the United States and abroad to accommodate and integrate individuals with disabilities. Our team consults with business and industry, and with policy makers, educators, disability advocates, and rehabilitation practitioners.

 What you will do:

This position will conduct program evaluation, research, and dissemination activities in support of several research projects funded to the Yang Tan Institute on Employment and Disability (YTI). The position will be responsible for the design and implementation of research studies, communicating summary research findings to team members, writing of research and evaluation reports for funding agencies, and scholarly publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals, contributing to proposal grant writing, and assisting with annual project reporting across a number of YTI projects. 

 Senior Extension/Extension Associate is a full-time, academic, non-tenure track, term position with an initial appointment through December 31, 2024. The position may be re-appointed based on recommendations by the appropriate YTI Leadership and Associate Dean for Outreach, as well as available funding and work. Position rank will be determined by qualifications and experience.

 What we need:

  • Advanced degree (Master's, Doctorate, or law degree) in program evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation psychology, organizational psychology, economics, education, applied social science research or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience and demonstrated competency in qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
  • Minimum two years of experience and demonstrated competency in program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to data collection and analysis, instrument design, conducting observational field research, writing of research reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience teaching adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct extensive literature reviews in target areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team.

 You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in program evaluation.
  • Formal educational preparation and experience working (3-5 years) in the area of employment and disability policy and workplace disability inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementation science, improvement science and statewide scale up initiatives.
  • Three or more years of experience in a research and program evaluation environment.
  • Proven ability to design and manipulate databases, use computer-based statistical and analytical applications, and be able to design outcome and impact studies.
  • Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the employment and disability policy and/or workplace disability inclusion.
  • One or more years demonstrated experience in successful grant writing and grant management.
  • Extensive record of presentations to large audiences.
  • One or more years of experience translating research findings into user-friendly and accessible publications for stakeholder use.
  • Experience with grant writing.

Salary Range: $69,500.00 - $85,00.00 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and location.
